ALUMINIUM SULPHATE

Aluminium sulphate is an Inorganic chemical compound containing Aluminium and sulphate roots (Sulphur and oxygen). In its anhydrous form, it is a white crystalline material with the formula Al2(SO4)3 which rarely forms in nature spontaneously while in liquid form, it appears as a colourless liquid. Synthetic production of Aluminium Sulphate involved reaction of Aluminium Hydroxide with Sulfuric Acid.

Aluminium Sulphate is commonly known as Filter Alum and its technical name is Dialuminium Trisulphate. It is a non-toxic and non-combustible substance and does not have any major hazardous effects. However, it can cause irritation to the eyes when it comes in contact with it.

Aluminium Sulphate is the most widely used coagulant due to its efficiency and cost effectiveness. Alum is water soluble but insoluble in ethanol. It does not produce any odour and has a slightly sweet taste.

Aluminium sulphate has many uses and is a common substance that is used in our daily lives. It also finds application in a variety of industries. Some of the most common uses are
