FERRIC SULPHATE

Ferric Sulphate [Fe2(SO4)3] is a chemical compound having sulphate ions and iron in its oxidation state. Having a primary hazard as a threat to the environment, it is used as a soil conditioner. It is an iron molecular entity and has a role of a catalyst, mordant and astringent. It can form a soluble iron cation by reacting with organics, as its solution is corrosive.

PREPARATION

It is produced by the reaction of a solution of ferrous sulfate, oxidizing agent, and Sulphuric acid. It is also prepared by adding ferric hydroxide to sulphuric acid.
