Magnesium phosphate is an ionic salt of magnesium and phosphate appearing in several forms and several hydrates. This is a compound with a hydrated crystalline structure. It also occurs in amorphous forms. This mineral founds in bones, and the seeds of many plants. It is a source of supplemental dietary magnesium. It has its other names as Phosphoric Acid Magnesium salt and Tri magnesium Diphosphate.

It reacts with acids. When it is dissolved in the hydrated form it gives magnesium hydroxide. It is moderately acidic. It is an odorless solid having no taste. It appears as colorless and rhombic plates. It is not soluble in liquid ammonia but soluble in ammonium salt solution. It is insoluble in cold or hot water.
