Sulfamic acid is a molecular chemical compound commonly named as Amidosulphuric acid, amino Sulfonic acid, Amidosulfonic acid, and Amidosulphuric acid. It is a colorless compound and finds many uses. Moreover, it is a water-soluble compound. It is a sand-like crystalline solid and neutralized by adding dilute hydroxide. It is also used for cleaning metals. It is a combustible compound.
Its appearance is a white and crystalline powder. It has an orthorhombic crystal structure. It is soluble in MeOH and water by hydrolysis. On decomposing, it emits toxic fumes of hydrogen chloride and Sulphur oxide. It is stable in dry form. It is not soluble in hydrocarbons. It is a strong and inorganic acid as solid is not hygroscopic. Sulfamic acid is non-volatile. It is an odorless solid. It is an acidic compound. Sulfamic acid is partially soluble in acetone.

When Sulphuric acid is heated with urea, we obtained Sulphamic acid. It can be prepared by treating chlorosulfonic acid and ammonia. In the laboratory, its formulation involves direct sulfonation of benzenesulfonic acid.
